Now this club's website front page is spot on for what club members want to know.
http://www.rd-rc.org/
The wind speeds.
The wind directions.
What the runway and flying area looks like.
The temps.
Man, is that using today's technology or what.
It appears to be in realtime, so the three camera view of the flying field would show who has shown up to fly that day.
a-mazing...............
You are right Kent. What a great web-site. Everything you want to know about your club but were afraid to ask.
Thing is, we could have alot of the same things on our web site. We had a weather report for awhile when we first turned on the new web site back in January but only two members checked it out in seventeen days.
I suspect that RCDC have members that use and contribute to their club's web site. I can not remember the last time a WSRC member wrote an article on building, trimming an airplane, or even reporting on a new project they were building. Hell, we can't even get half of our members to REGISTER so they will appear on the club roster and be able to get in the Members Only section.
As far as the cameras, I think that would be great. I would love to see who is at the field having fun but I wonder how many WSRC members would even check it out.
We have a Web Master that would enter or build almost anything we would like to put on our site but I bet no one has asked him to do anything. None of our CD's have sent in information on their events for 2010 and even I could enter that on the Home Page.
On the other hand, we have lots of fine members that help with field projects, help with contests, always there when you need them and are great to fly with and be around. I have been a member of several clubs and been to many flying sites around the country but WSRC members are a cut-above bunch.
Oh well, it is what it is!
