Flying yesterday sucked. Well, actually..... the flying was awesome, the takeoffs and landings sucked.

The runway is frickin' deep in weeds. The separation zone and pits are weed free. The weeds are soft and tacky. Taking off isn't reliably possible with the trainer Herb brought or my 60-size Extra 300. Landings were almost a guaranteed nose over. Last week every other landing wound up digging dirt with the spinning prop. Yesterday I did one landing and packed up.

We did training flights by my taking off from the pit area going North, beyond the benches. Not much "runway" but no wheel drag. To land the trainer, I high-alpha slipped it back into the same area.

Rusty doesn't seem to be cutting now, probably for good reason. The grass you see driving past is perfect. But the runway weeds need cutting right now. Yesterday, Chic mentioned spraying it.

It's ok for the big gas planes. It's closed the field for the 60 size and smaller. I don't plan to fly off the pit area regularly.

Why are the weeds just choking the runway and not the rest? Because the runway is cut so close the weeds take hold on all the bare spots that happen in the summer when the heat kills the extra short grass. And the end of last year there were way more bare areas than grass. Also, it appears that none of the seed planted last fall has come up anywhere.

Just a headsup.....................
