JUNE 18-19 2022
PATTERN CONTEST
PATTERN CONTEST NOTES:
The WSRC Pattern contest is scheduled for June 18/19. The SPORTSMAN class is open to anyone who would like to try out flying in the contest as explained below. See the pattern (diagram on Contest Info Page).
Ideally, it would be perfect if you had an actual pattern airplane for this contest, but we will allow just about anything in Sportsman Class. Weight is not checked in Sportsman and by the rules, a pattern airplane is limited to 2m length and 2m wingspan. If you have a normal, full-sized pattern airplane or a smaller -70 size- or even an aerobatic "foamy" airplane, you are good-to-go.
Same for say, a 60" EF Laser for example.
What if you have a 78" electric, glow or gas powered EF Extra or Laser? You would be OK in Sportsman class for this contest. A DA70 powered AJ Raven would be good but a DA100 or DA200 powered Extra would be beyond the spirit of the event and besides, it would be pretty hard to keep such a large airplane in the box.
Oh yes, "the box" - all maneuvers are to stay within a 60 degree left and right "box". See the AMA site for rules at https://www.modelaircraft.org/sites/default/files/RC%20Aerobatics%202022-2023.pdf
SUMMARY:
* Sportsman class weight is not an issue.
* Non-pattern airplanes with a DA70 or smaller engine would be allowed in Sportsman.
* Be aware that TAKE-OFF and LANDING are scored! ONE ROUND PER FLIGHT.
